Exploring Jewish Prayer

Member, United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism

What is Jewish Prayer? Where do we pray? When do we pray? Why do we pray? Who prays? How do we pray? These are difficult but essential questions that that relate to creating a meaningful Jewish spiritual life.

This course is an opportunity for members of our congregation to begin to address these questions. In this four-part series, Rabbi Bernstein explores the structure and meaning of the cornerstones of Jewish liturgy. In addition, he also explores challenges in prayer, such as the tension between spontaneity and regularity, and individuality and community.

The course met on Sundays, January 10, 17, 24 and February 7, 2010. If you were unable to attend one or more sessions, please participate "virtually" by viewing the You Tube videos that are posted below, for each session. Let us all study together so that we may create meaningful and engaging worship experiences for everyone in our kehillah.
